FOSTER TAKES THIRD IN WORKING BOBTAIL CLASS AT THE GREAT AMERICAN TRUCK SHOW IN DALLAS

David Foster, an owner operator from Joplin, Mo., takes third place in the Working Bobtail class with his 2005 Kenworth W900L, at the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) in Dallas, Texas, August 25, 2012. During GATS, Foster had 899,672 miles on his truck; 200,000 miles since he had Performance Diesel Inc. (PDI) of St. George, Utah, tune his ECM. “Since the tune, I’ve averaged 7.2 [miles per gallon] fuel mileage and the truck runs freer,” said Foster. “When I got the tune I made a trip to L.A., and I hit the button once and left my buddy who was 11,000 pounds lighter.” Foster learned the business from his father, Bobby, who drove truck for 50 years. At 22 years of age, Foster purchased his first truck. For a time, Foster and his wife, Susan, drove team until the birth of their two daughters, Rebecca and Rachael, whose names are displayed on his cab. Trucking has been a 30 year career for Foster, and he’s now driving his sixth semi-truck. Foster has had his 2005, 13 speed Kenworth for eight years; longer than any other truck he’s owned previously. He pulls a 53 foot tandem axle dry box and is sponsored by Con-way.
